Controls Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Controls Engineerto join our Operations team in Turlock, CA. This critical role will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of control systems and equipment. This will include creating new sequences and functionality for new and existing PLC’s and SCADA systems. This role ensures that all machinery and processes operate efficiently and safely through the application of technical knowledge and skills related to electrical, mechanical, and computer systems. What you’ll do:  

• Independently program and configure PLCs and other control devices to meet specific operational requirements, while modifying existing control programs to improve efficiency or adapt to changes in process requirements.
• Install, maintain, and repair control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and actuators.
• Independently create new sequences and functionality for new and existing PLC’s and SCADA systems as well as breakdown the process and determine the optimal solution for any sequence adjustments. 
• Create and perform regular preventative maintenance on control systems to ensure optimal operation, ensuring adequate parts inventory is maintained.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and software issues in control systems, while utilizing diagnostic tools and software to identify and correct problems.
• Implement and follow lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance activities.
• Provide training and guidance to operators and other maintenance personnel on control system operation and troubleshooting.

What you’ll bring: 

• Ideally 5 years+ of experience in control systems maintenance and troubleshooting in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Proficiency in programming PLCs using ladder logic (LL), function block diagrams (FBD), and other applicable programming languages, accompanied with Allen-Bradley, Siemens systems experience. 
• Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet/IP).
• Knowledge of HMI design and programming by use of language / software such as Python, JavaScript, or Visual Basic and Factory talk, WinCC, Wonderware, Indusoft and Ignition. 
• Familiarity with SCADA systems (e.g., IFIX, Citect, Ignition SCADA, Wonderware).
• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field, or a bachelor's degree preferred.

About Sensient Natural Ingredients

Sensient Natural Ingredients is one of the largest producers and distributors in the world of dehydrated onion and garlic products as well as chili powder, paprika, chili pepper and dehydrated vegetables such as parsley, celery, and spinach. These ingredients are used in many of today's popular convenience foods. The Natural Ingredients unit is located in Livingston, California. 

The salary range for this role is $115,000 - $150,000. Pay within the range is based on several factors, which may include, but are not limited to, education, work experience, specialized training, and labor market conditions.  In addition to salary, Sensient is proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits program to support the holistic well-being of our employees and their families.
